Regarding examples 1 and 2. . . When finding the perimeter you chose to simplify the variables: 2X + 2(X + 1)= 60 meters. When finding the dimensions of the triangle you did not simplify 2X +15= 50cm. Why?

I am a little confused about your question. In the video I did not simplify the expression 2X + 2(X + 1)= 60 meters, I also did not simplify the second expression 2X +15= 50cm. In this video I am not focusing on simplifying equation the goal of the video is to translate word problems. When the student feels comfortable doing this then we can proceed to simplify and solve the equation.
